Category Analyst

Job Description

The Category Analyst is responsible for supporting the Category Development manager to provide accounts with insights, recommendations and range/category reviews. In addition to supporting with our regular monthly reporting cycle as well as conducting ad-hoc data requests to provide insight into the reasons for changes within the coffee market and retailer performance. In addition to being a segment lead working closely with Marketing.

Key Responsibilities Include;

  • Working alongside Category Manager on ad-hoc analysis as needed for accounts
  • Updating monthly retailer Commercial Review documents (and any relevant reports)
  • Reporting to the business on range review outcomes
  • Owning and updating of the Opex scorecards (and any necessary extra project tasks) across the key channels as well being the team expert on how to maintain and refresh
  • Undertaking analysis using Nielsen, Kantar, Dunnhumby, Aimia, GfK and retailer’s own data systems where required
  • Presenting at internal/external meetings
  • Is the expert on JDA and Coffee merchandising – owns & maintains the planogram reports and image library. Responsibilities also include building planograms, analysing range and space performance as well as making recommendations to improve retailer’s/JDE performance
  • Supporting Marketing and G2M process for relevant segment, involves providing insights for NPD, performance, activations etc

Qualifications

Experience in marketing or sales experience

Experience gained within the UK FMCG environment would be an advantage.

Possessing the below skills would also be a significant advantage:

  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communicator including presentation delivery and report writing
  • Results focused, with excellent attention to detail
  • Basic influencing skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel user
  • Self-motivated
  • Team player
  • Proficient use of database software (for example Nielsen, Kantar, Dunnhumby etc)
  • Experience with Planograms and JDA software
