Shopper Marketing Specialist

Job Description

As the Shopper Marketing Specialist, you will be part of the Revenue & Category Growth Team, which forms part of the wider Sales function. You will report to the Shopper Marketing & Field Sales Manager, working cross functionally with other departments to deliver Shopper Marketing & Field Sales goals. 

You will form a pivotal link between category strategy and sales, helping to define the strategy and support on the activation and the evaluation of shopper, field and trade press activation.  You will help to develop and embed the framework & methodology for best in class shopper, field and trade press activation. 

Your remit will encompass the development of relationships with Field, Trade Press and Shopper agencies within a set budget in these areas.  You will thrive from collaborating cross-functionally with Category Strategy, Category development, Sales, Marketing and Communications to deliver best in class activation for JDE brand including NPD big bets. 

Works on Shopper Insight, Shopper Marketing, Methodology, Activation Strategy & Trade press communications. 

Key responsibilities Include:

Shopper Insight 

  • Support in building a shopper mindset in the organisation  
  • Interpret shopper insight data (Kantar, panel data) and provide insights to inform marketing and customer strategies 
  • Feeds insight into Perfect Store Vision 
  • Voice of the shopper within the organisation 

Shopper Marketing 

  • Understand and develop with marketing the most appropriate campaign plans for the category determined by shopper objectives of penetration, frequency or weight of purchase 
  • Align with marketing bringing insight from previous shopper activation ensuring effective campaigns and projects and understand retailer processes, media partners, marketing calendar custodians, key decision-makers, and stake holders critical to campaign success 
  • Co Create campaign artwork templates with brand teams to drive best in class activation  
  • Communicate campaign and project status reports plans to key stakeholders ensuring all are aligned to agreed activity  
  • Working with Customer Cat Dev teams to identify and develop key insights and strategy from post-evaluation of all activity. 
  • Working cross functionally and with outside agencies to ensure the delivery of best in class execution in store 

Field Sales 

  •  Liaising & co-ordinating with our chosen field sales agency to support activation & availability of our Power brands & hero skus in store. 
  • Supporting and empowering the National Account Executives to provide monthly account briefs to the field sales agency 
  • Providing a monthly report summarising activity and delivery Vs OPEX targets  
  • Trade Press 
  • Being a day to day contact for our chosen communications agency 
  • Approving copy for publications 
  • Support on annual calendar to ensure JDE brands are getting a share of voice in the market     

Trade Press 

  • Being a day to day contact for our chosen communications agency 
  • Approving copy for publications 
  • Support on annual calendar to ensure JDE brands are getting a share of voice in the market  

 

Qualifications

  • Must have experience in an FMCG sales, marketing and/or category role. 
  • FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) market knowledge 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to identify insights across multiple data sources  
  • Financial acumen: able to build and track simple p&l’s and to manage a track budgets  
  • Strong internal and external relationship skills
  • Experience of working cross-functionally to deliver multiple objectives  
  • Strong excel and PowerPoint skills   
  • Project management or team experience
