Product Change Manager - Packaging

Job Description

As a member of the Manufacturing Supply Chain Team, the Product Change Manager (known internally as an Packaging Engineer) is responsible for shaping and defining the best practice with the packaging function ensuring that the material and machine interface is optimized to reduce operational losses, delivering cost savings and technological advancements for the factory.  You will have a key focus on the development and specification of materials, parts and components to ensure that Plant safety, quality,delivery, service and cost KPIs are met.   

This is a new role within the JDE structure so a chance to make it your own and really take our practices to the next level and implement your great ideas within the packaging field! You will be the onsite packaging guru for JDE!

Key Responsibilities; 

  • Point of contact of the plant for R&D to validate pack materials evolutions and to deliver fit for purpose material specifications
  • Coordinate projects internally: make the link between the scheduling, supply, production, quality, maintenance and engineering departments.
  • Coordination of NPD/packaging modifications tests within the factory
  • Manages the diagnosis of line issues related to the pack materials
  • Coordinate problem solving and creation of preventative and improvement actions between suppliers, purchasing departments, central quality and the factory
  • Participate in the definition of pack specifications, supporting R&D.
  • Participate in the management of pack complaints and process optimization
  • Initiates escalations for quality issues of pack mats.
  • Conducts targeted analyses focusing on loss analysis, kaizen and lean management
  • Develop plans to optimize resources and process changes, and implement the solutions
  • Monitor results, provide a summary and progress points on the action plan

Qualifications

  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Understanding of production & supply processes
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Ability to apply LEAN tools (eg VSM, SMED, KAIZEN to improve pl processes
  • High level of drive and self-motivation, ambitious to succeed and prepared to go the extra mile
  • Demonstrable years working experience in a manufacturing role
  • Experience or an interest with Packaging
  • Familiarity with drawing/design software
